Maria Montoya is enrollment and communication specialist with a background in assisting school systems/district leaders in developing outreach and community engagement strategies.Maria is well known advocate and speaker on behalf of special populations and issues of equity and transparency in enrollment processes. When it comes to school transformation and closure work, Maria is an expert in helping boards, CMOs and authorizers navigate many of the barriers experienced by helping leaders develop community centered plans aimed at eliminating many of the negative experiences associated with such work.
Prior to moving to Michigan, Maria worked for the Recovery School District (RSD) in New Orleans as the Director of Enrollment and Student & Family Services. She is a part of the founding team that created the city’s unified enrollment process known as, OneApp. Maria was additionally a part of the RSD team responsible for launching the city’s first citywide truancy center and early childhood care and education enrollment processes.
